shake shake shake

I have experienced quite a few stuff here at my company. First it was the blackout that seems to last forever and had everyone talkinga bout. Then it was the problematic internet connection that made people go mad in the office and at home. Today was another experience for me, the first earthquake i ever felt, and of all possible places in the world, it is in singapore.

I did not feel the first tremor as i was alreadly lunching at beach road market. Colleagues called from the office saying the office building was shaking and they had to be evacuated. ok, i thought, "oh sian. i missed the fun'. went back after lunch and was working and suddenly i felt myself moving forward n backward. Initialy, the earthquake did not hit me. i thought i stared at the computer for too long, reading up on the first earthquake. then everyone in the office start to make noise (some shrieks can be heard from the girls), then yup, it was a second shake. i looked at the 'tao hua' in the office. it was swaying about. the whole situation seems rather comical. people were getting their hps and wallet, ready to evacuate anytime. The dead office suddenly liven up. A few of us kay pohs looked down and saw some people alreadly downstairs. so we were all waiting for the evaucation signal or a half day announcement from HR. too bad none of the 2 happened. so after all the saga, we all got bad to work. heard some buildings were evacuated for the 2nd time. some companies even got half day off. damm!

I realise that all the girls were like freaking out and the guys were all steady cool. but the best are still the japs. throughout the whole thing, they carried out with their work like nothing had happened. guess this is just chicken feet compared to what they experience back in japan.

definitely a rather new experience, but thinking of all the death n damage the earthquake has caused (esp in sumatra), i think i rather not experience one anymore. if i want to, can go to japan, where they got some simulator that simulates the earthquake. remember takashi castle, there is this part where contestants have to sit on a mat, then the whole house will shake violently. those who did not fall off will move on to the next round.

and oh ya, my office was featured in the news.
