i am now typing away on my laptop... finally settled all the stuff, like setting up the wireless, installing application.

the past 2 days are major errand running days. went to matriculate yest. finally got my student card n my concession card. yeah! save money... got my laptop. went to buy router. went to set up uob campus account. so many many shat to do.....

went to catch The Simpsons movie also. the movie has crappy storyline (which simpsons episode has storyline?), but was freaking freaking funny. Think we were laughing almost every 5 minutes.

the more memorable scenes:

[at the church]
some guy, " I have something to confess..."
Homer ,"gay! gay! gay! gay!" (cross fingers)

"I was elected to leaddddd, not readdddd"

and of course the spiderpig song n the bart nude scenes... wah lau, they really show the dick.

and i can't believe almost everyone sat thru the whole movie till the end of the credits.. think mos ppl are anticipating something, but it turns out to be a crappy scene.

perhentian islands....

Back from the perhentian islands... the sun, sand and sea.. my ideal vacation for relaxing... if not for budget constraints and having to be back for matriculation, i wld want to stay there for a few more days...
relaxing on a bench in front of the clear blue sea, with the sun above your head, the sea breeze in your face, and a gd book in hand. wow... feels like in heaven.
kuala besut town...
had to take a 11 hrs coach down to jerteh, then transfer to kuala besut, then by ferry to perhentian. a freaking long trip. but reaching that place, i kind of realise that it is still worth the hassle. perhaps next time i shall fly down to kota bahru instead.
the bus trip was rather 'interesting'. on the way there, our bus had a snapped engine belt and we had to stop in the middle of nowhere. surrounding us were forests which were totally dark. the occasional illumination came from the vehicles passing us. can imagine if a group of robberes pass by..... on the return journey, our bus had a punctured tyre. this time round, it was in front of a sch and 2 other buses also stopped to help our driver change tyre, so at least we felt safe.
i shall let the pictures do the talking....

the beach in front of our chalet...

another beach, where we watched the sunset..

our chalet...

snorkelling was a brand new experience for me. i feel like i am all alone in the underwater world, watching the world there go by. saw school of fishes, beautiful corals. it was fun feeding the fishes too. too bad i dun have a underwater cam with me.... if not can take lots of photos.

some cam whoring pics... actually gots lots more, dun think i gonna post them all here...

summing it up. a good environment, a good view, a good book & a good company of friends makes a great vacation!

and it is really shitty. having a rather bad flu now. just hours before i depart. I am always that suay. falling sick during holidays. the same thing happened for hong kong. I can feel my illness erupting in a few days time, hopefully only when i get back. I wanna enjoy the sun n sea there.

and crap shit it is raining. hope it doesn't rain buckets when we get there, or else we are really going to enjoy what we paid for (the chalet)...

it sucks to be digging into my savings account for money... Being unemployed for one month, plus my driving fees, plus my hk trip, plus my horrible financial control led to deficit for the first time in 2 yrs. After my perhentian trip, it's time to do some serious budgeting. With sch starting soon, need to spend a bomb. getting a laptop. pay fees. buy books. and the list goes on and on.

i am seriously considering taking another tuition student. I must be crazy...

i think i have a terrible haircut. the stylist was like shaved off the hair at the front portion of my forehead... so tat area is like with lots of stub, and i have to put my fringe down to cover it. argh!!! i can't imagine how funny it wld be when the hair starts to grow... damm... i must keep using my fringe to cover.. actually the rest is ok, just the front part that irks me.

and yesh! perhentian is confirmed... 26 to 28th! leaving sg on the 25th night and coming back on 29th morning.

It's like a big burden off my chest. Finally passed by driving... after 3 attempts... think the tester will also be like "since this fucker has alreadly taken 2 times, shall close one eye n pass him lah". very bad condition when driving, it was raining freaking huge... visibility is like so so so bad..

this morning, i was like so sleepy (due to 4 hrs of sleep the previous nite), and during warm up, i kept yawning... so i was thinking to myself "i am so so so screwed". lucky everything turn out well.

who got a car to lend me? I promise i wun crash it... or, who is willing to sponser me a car?

thanks to yz... been keeping myself entertained with this...

other than such videos, been keeping myself entertained with 溏心風暴 (Heart Of Greed). They say it is the most watched series for TVB this year. I truly agree... The story plot is still ok, but excellent acting by cast made it a really good show. The climax is starting to build up.

and i am so hooked onto this song ,My Love Will Get You Home , which is played at certain part of the show, normally in scenes with 常在心.

If you wonder off too far, my love will get you home.
If you follow the wrong star, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

If the bright lights blinds your eyes, my love will get you home.
If your troubles break your stride, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

If you ever feel ashame, my love will get you home.
If its only you to blame, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

If you ever find yourseft, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.
Boy,my love will get you home.

ok.. i am so bored at home and i decided to give my blog a revamp...

tried the html codes and it was frustrating as the codes i pasted in would not work... had no choice but to settle for the standard blog templete. shall study more into html...

this series of shows from Lisa Lampanelli. it is like a stand up comedy, except that it is extremely racist n extremely entertaining.. she jokes abt the blacks, the hispanics n the gays ... LOL!!! i think i would understand the jokes more if i were an american... i can't imagine if there were a show like this in sg... dun think the garmen even allows...

what she said is quite true, sometimes we need to learn to laugh at ourselves....

hk trip part 2

continuing on my hk trip. a fall contrast from the greenery of lantau island would be hong kong island. buildings n buildings everywhere.. their tall rise buildings are built in such close proximity that i think u can look over to the opposite block from one block.
the hong kong skyline
hong kong skyline at night.. the symphony of lights was a huge disappointment. expecting a spectacular lights n lazor show, but end up, everyone was like "just like this?"
Hong Kong Convention Centre. Just after a day i left, they were celebrating 10 yrs of return to china here...
2 IFC. tallest building in hong kong
bank of china building.
streets of hong kong with tram lines... riding on the tram is an experience of its own
Central (中环), which is their business district, like our raffles place. is indeed full of life. can feel that the pace of life is also very fast here in hong kong, just like singapore. During peak hour, the crowd rushing to work and home is really huge. Fortunately, the central MTR station is freaking huge. Really really huge. Hong Kong mass rapid system is definitely much better than sg. stations are spacious and had lots of entry n exit gates. signage are very prominent and annoucements are clear n load in 3 language (eng, chi, canto). Trains frequencies are much faster than singapore ones. When i took the MRT in sg just after i came back frm hk, i felt funny as hk train goes much faster than singapore ones.. and hk ppl are not like freaking sgporeans, standing in front of the door n blocking the exit. even on escalators, they keep to the right automaticaly, allowing a path for people who are walking down. the downside, the mtr there is much more expensive than sg..
a cheaper way to cross the harbour to kowloon, the Star Ferry.
it is just a simple ferry ride across the harbour, but it offers the best view of hong kong. a ride on the upper deck cost only HK $2.2 (less than 50cents).

the new ferry pier over at central. the old one (queen pier) has been demolished... read that on the last night of operation of queen pier, thousands of people flocked to the terminal and there had even been protests against the demolishment of the pier. shows how significant the star ferry is in the life of hk people. it looks like the star ferry would continue to play a significant role in bringing people across the harbour in future. you can see youngster n even working professionals wearing tie n suits choosing the star ferry route instead of the faster, aircon subway route.

eveyone will wait behind this gate for the ferry to arrive. once the gate opens, people will just walk down the walkway to board the ferry.

seats on the ferry is unique too. the seat back can be moved such that the seat faces forward or backwards. so usually, the first few passengers who board the ferry after it docks will change the seat back such that it is facing the other direction, as the ferry will travel in the other direction.

went off to explore central, as well as the SOHO, lan kwai fong area. they call this the mid-levels area, and thus, there are slopes, stairs everywhere. they came up with an indigenous idea. an escalator to bring people up.

part of the central mid-levels escalator. this escalator will travel downwards in the morning and then upwards for other times.

the whole distance is freaking long...

down here, the sights are rather different from central. 3-4 storeys shophouses line the small n congested roads... i think one is better off walking then driving here, judging from the continous honking of the car horn..

lan kwai fong.. didn't manage to go there at night... can't except me to bring my mum to go drinking rite?

another place to visit. the peak. took the tram up. the tram travels at a really great incline. seems to be steeper than a plane taking off..

view from the top.... too bad i didn't go another spot, abt 10-15 walk away, and i heard the view there is more beautiful

dunno why i was looking away from the camera for this pic. maybe someone caught my attention?

enough of this post.. taking up quite a bit of my time... shall write more next time round....

Wednesday, July 11, 2007

I haven been blogging for quite some time since i came back from hong kong.. most of the time, i am being locked up at home... first it was the toilet renovation that took 3 bloody days... then the rest of the time, either at home in front of the comp or out for tuition.

ok. at least did meet up with frens... celebrated mine n kim's bdae with the jc gang on sunday. haven seen each other(except kim) for quite some time. actually, the celebratory mood has long gone off for me but still thanks to the guys for celebrating and the gift!

all of us (except CH) at this fake billy bombers place (forgot the name liao)

the 2 birthday boys (men)...

monday was then spent K-ing.. almost whole day.. morning was k-ing with tee n bingyi over at JB.. thinking abt the cost, it ain't that cheap either... the good thing is that the food there is cheap... haha... went to kim gary hk restaurant.. i miss hk food! but the baked rice ain't as gd as hk ones... then at night, it was k session again with the geog soc gang over at bishan... sang until my throat hurts and could not hit those high notes... like what they said "i am super siao!" sang a lot of those english songs from the pop era, like backstreet boys, nsync, britney, even abba n bee gees... n britney's you drive me crazy had those fake mtv that sent all of us into laughter n disgust.... took lots of pics.. shall post when i get them...

and the question of the day still remains unanswered. perhentian go or not??

It's sucks to be stuck at home babysitting the house.. Currently, there are renovation work going on in my hse and i happen to be the unfortunate stuck at home, watching the door, and 'enjoying' all the drilling, banging, whatever...

ok... shall blog a bit on my hk trip.. though it didn't turn out to be very enjoyable, i was still able to take a look into the hustle n bustle of hk life.. though largely similar to singapore, there are still some differences here and there.

Below are some glimpse into hong kong..

The tian tan buddha is the largest bronze buddha structure in the world. located in lantau island, the island provided a peaceful n serene background to the statue n temple. Too bad the ngong pign 360 cable car went down a few days b4 i went, so we had to endure the 1 hr roller coster bus ride to the site. the gd thing, there wasn't packs and packs of tourists as i had expected.

The 268 steps leading up to the buddha.

passed by this place on the way to 宝莲寺. it is a freaking prison! a prison with a sea view... think the inmates wun be able to enjoy this view.

There is this place called 心经简林, a bit off the usual tourist spot of the buddha, tat's why it is real quiet there... no 'ah tiongs' shouting around... it is indeed worth a walk down to this place, as it provides some of the most stunning view of lantau...

Next time round shall go hiking...

another place worth a visit on lantau would be 'Tai O' or 大澳. Tai O is a small fishing village by the sea.. This place is indeed a big contrast to the hustle and bustle of kowloon and hong kong.. no car horns... just the sound of the sea breeze and the ringing of bicycle bells. small alleys and mainly 2 storey building... there is indeed a charm to this small village.

the famous Tai O beancurd... a must try if you do visit there... the beancurd is so smooth and the texture is not too hard, and not too soft also.. diff frm sg ones..

the shop we went to.. there were many many such stores, but we didn't know which is the original one. so typical sgporean behaviour, we walk into the one with the most people...

another 2 places tucked away in some corner of hong kong, stanley and repulse bay. stanley is fast being developed into a tourist attraction. what used to be just a beach and a few shophouses is now being joined by a shopping mall. the street market in stanley is now cluttered with brands like watson, delifrance etc... but the beauty of stanley is still there, esp the beach area.. i love beach areas... too bad i didn't stay there long enough to enjoy the sea breeze, as my family claimed it was boring and there is nothing to see...

the murray house. read that this building was demolised and moved over here from central.

shops being developed right before the sea... imagine sitting down at a cafe here, enjoying the breeze and chit chatting with gd frens... how gd would it be...

another beautiful beach. repulse bay. it is machiam like our sentosa palawan beach, where people go and sun tan, play or 'beo' hunks n babes..

shall end off here.. i am lazy to put up the rest of the pics... haha
