tekong chalet

I am sure everyone held of the infamous 'Tekong Chalet'. Look at the building from the outside. it is really chalet like. everyting is so new. During my 6 months stay there, i didn't feel like it was a chalet, till yesterday, i realise the true meaning of it.

Had to go back for re hand grenade. wanted to go because i want to have the experience of throwing a live grenade. one would not have considered going through army if he doesn't experience this. so went back on fri night. only 8 ppl turned up for the re HG and re BIC. so we had the option of staying in the annex room. of course we agreed to it immediately!!!! for non NS ppl, the annex room is sort of a recreational room for recruits. inside got air con, plus tv, plus pool table. who woundn't want to stay in the room. so we spent the night there, not sleeping but rather enjoying ourselves. initially we thought that with tv, can watch channel 5,8 and channel U. but then, the stupid tv only have indonesian channel. tried setting tv but still cannot find local channel. just when we thought there was to be no tv for us, sgt michael brought in 2 vcd for us. so we had a mini movie marathon. most ppl 'peng' after the first movie, American Pie 2, only me and thomas stayed on to watch Hitch. AP 2 was so freaking funny. it was still enjoyable despite watching it a second round. this time round it was clear as it was the original copy. Hitch was enjoyable too. too bad the quality isn't good as it is a pirated version. those that is shot in the cinema. can even see one guy walking off towards the end of the show. in the end slept for only 2 hrs plus. Just like in chalet, where late nights are common. we were supposed to have 7 hrs of sleep in fact, but who cares.

so the next morning, slack a bit before going to the HG ground. first threw the SPG 93, which is the practive grenade. then moved on to throw the actual one. when the grenade exploded, can really feel the vibration when i am in the throwing bay. lucky my grenade went out quite well. didn't know where it landed though, cause the sir pulled me down immediately right after the grenade left my hand. for safety of course.

then went back to coy line. only to find out tat we missed the 1pm fastcraft and the next fastcraft is at 5.30 pm!!! freaking hell!! have to stay there for another 4 hrs plus. but turned out the 4 hrs plus wasn't tat bad. cause we played monopoly!!!! during the game, we kept commenting tat this is really like chalet!!! we eventually booked out happily at 5.30. saying bye bye to the island. i do not wish to go back there again. which also means don't post me to tekong medical center after my course.

one conclusion. as long as one is not a recruit, tekong is really considered a chalet for one.
