The Terminal

Woke up early today surprisingly. did nothing much also. Initially wanted to watch the olympics closing ceremony. but at abt 1 am then too tired, so i just went to sleep. wow. time passes so quickly. so fast the olympics have come to an end. No more olympic action. have to wait until beijing 2008, which then i would be like 22 yrs old. By then i would want to fly down to beijing to watch the games for myself. shld start saving now. oh ya, the men marathon came to a funny twist. apparently a crazy guy dashed out of nowhere and he pushed the leading runner to the side. in the end the runner finished 3rd. in fact, the games this time round got quite a lot of screws up but notheless still a great game.

i watched the terminal on my comp today. me being the ultra pirate again. but i downloaded cause it was released quite some time back n stupid singapore have not screened it until i think next week. It wasn't the usual action flick, exciting movie. in fact it was a slow paced one. Taking about this guy victor who was trapped in the JFK airport after being denying entry. it's interesting to see how life inside the airport is. The airport is also a place where i wanna work next time, if possible. it allows me to get close to the huge planes and of course meeting ppl frm all around the world. Think my dream of being a pilot is gone case and the next best place i wanna be would be the airport. Back to the movie, one thing amazing was that the set of the movie was actually a mock up of the actual JFK T4 terminal. Every details in the set follows the actual and the stores featured inside, like starbucks are actually fully functional. how marvelous was tat. And it was actually based on a true story of this guy who stay at paris CDG airport for 16 yrs. A iran exile i think. Today CNA did a feature of him and he said he one day, he does want to leave the airport.

i posted the pic to see if the pic posting would work.

"The Terminal" tells the story of Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks), a visitor to New York from Eastern Europe, whose homeland erupts in a fiery coup while he is in the air en route to America. Stranded at Kennedy Airport with a passport from nowhere, he is unauthorized to actually enter the United States and must improvise his days and nights in the terminal’s international transit lounge until the war at home is over.As the weeks and months stretch on, Viktor finds the compressed universe of the terminal to be a richly complex world of absurdity, generosity, ambition, amusement, status, serendipity and even romance with a beautiful flight attendant named Amelia (Catherine Zeta-Jones). But Viktor has long worn out his welcome with airport official Frank Dixon, who considers him a bureaucratic glitch, a problem he cannot control but wants desperately to erase.

"Leaving On A Jet Plane" Chantel Kreviazuk
I'm ... I'm ...
All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn
The taxi's waitin', he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go'
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go
I'm ...
There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I'll tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Every place I go, I think of you
Every song I sing, I sing for you
When I come back I'll wear your wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go'
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go
Now the time has come to leave you
One more time, oh, let me kiss you
And close your eyes and I'll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times that I won't have to say ...
Oh, kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go'
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go
And I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go
